طالَrose high الهُدىguidance وَاِعتَزَّand grew mighty دينُthe faith of مُحَمَّدِMuhammad
طالَ الهُدى وَاِعتَزَّ دينُ مُحَمَّدِ
بِخِلافَةِthrough the caliphate of المَلِكِthe king الأَعَزِّthe mightiest مُحَمَّدِMuhammad
بِخِلافَةِ المَلِكِ الأَعَزِّ مُحَمَّدِ
Guidance has risen high, and Muhammad's faith grown mighty,
The guidance has lasted and Muhammad's religion has been honored
Through the caliphate of the mightiest king, Muhammad.
With the caliphate of the mighty King Muhammad
نَظَرَlooked الإِمامُthe Imam إِلىtoward الزَّمانِthe age وَأَهلِهِand its people
نَظَرَ الإِمامُ إِلى الزَّمانِ وَأَهلِهِ
نَظَرَthe gaze of الغَمامthe rainclouds السَّكبِpouring لِلرَّوضِupon the meadow الصَّدِيthirsty
نَظَرَ الغَمام السَّكبِ لِلرَّوضِ الصَّدِي
The Imam looked upon the age and its people
The Imam looked at the time and its people
As pouring rainclouds look upon a thirsty meadow.
Like a pouring rain cloud over the blossoming meadow
فَحَباهُمُso he graced them بِمُحَمَّدٍwith Muhammad وَبِمِثلِهاand through one like it
فَحَباهُمُ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَبِمِثلِها
مِنof بَيعَةٍa pledge of allegiance يَعتَزُّgrows mighty دينُthe faith of مُحَمَّدِMuhammad
مِن بَيعَةٍ يَعتَزُّ دينُ مُحَمَّدِ
So he graced them with Muhammad; and through such
So he gifted them with Muhammad and the like of it
A pledge of allegiance, Muhammad's faith grows mighty.
With a pledge by which Muhammad's religion is honored
وَرَأىand he saw بِأَنَّthat لَهُhe had عَلىover أَترابِهِhis peers
وَرَأى بِأَنَّ لَهُ عَلى أَترابِهِ
فَضلَthe superiority of الطَّبِيبِthe physician عَلىover جَميعِall العُوَّدِvisitors to the sick
فَضلَ الطَّبِيبِ عَلى جَميعِ العُوَّدِ
And he saw that over his peers he possessed
And he saw that over his peers
The physician's superiority over all who visit the sick.
He has the superiority of the doctor over all the afflicted
لاno غَروَcause for wonder إِنif صَغُرَتare few سِنُوهُhis years فَعِلمُهُfor his knowledge
لا غَروَ إِن صَغُرَت سِنُوهُ فَعِلمُهُ
وَوَقارُهُand his dignity حَكَماhave both decreed لَهُfor him بِالسُّؤدَدِpreeminence
وَوَقارُهُ حَكَما لَهُ بِالسُّؤدَدِ
No wonder, though his years are few: his knowledge
No doubt, though his years are few, his knowledge
And his dignity have decreed his preeminence.
And composure have deemed him as eminent
إيهٍsay on! فَإِنfor if صَغُرَتare few سِنُوهُhis years فَإِنَّهُfor indeed it is
إيهٍ فَإِن صَغُرَت سِنُوهُ فَإِنَّهُ
مِنfrom نُقطَةٍa drop فَيضُthe flood of الأَتِيِّthe torrent المُزبِدِfoaming
مِن نُقطَةٍ فَيضُ الأَتِيِّ المُزبِدِ
Say on! For though his years are few, surely
Verily though his years are few, yet he
The foaming torrent's flood springs from a drop.
Is from a source overflowing with the Most Mighty
وَإِذاand when أَمِيرُthe Commander of المُؤمِنينَthe Faithful اِختارَهُhas chosen him
وَإِذا أَمِيرُ المُؤمِنينَ اِختارَهُ
فَكَفاهُthen it suffices him مِنas شَرَفٍhonor بِذاكَthrough that مُخَلَّدِmade everlasting
فَكَفاهُ مِن شَرَفٍ بِذاكَ مُخَلَّدِ
And when the Commander of the Faithful has chosen him,
And when the Commander of the Faithful chose him
That is honor enough for him, made everlasting by that choice.
It was enough honor for him, made everlasting
