  1. وغزالٍ لولا تميمة شعرٍ

    ذكرته لقلت بعض الجواري

    And a gazelle—were it not for a talisman of hair

    that marked him male, I would have said, “One of the maidens!”

  2. شارب أشرب الصبابة قلبي

    وعذارٌ خلعت فيه عذاري

    A mustache that made my heart drink passionate longing,

    and cheek-down for whose sake I cast off my bridle.
