أنت ذاك الصديق لي والرفيق
O Tajanni, I kept it hidden, then thought better of it:

Whenever I travel a mile away from you,
Whenever I walked a mile away from you
A portion of my lifeblood turns toward you.
A regiment inclined from my heart to you
فحياتيthus my life مصروفةspent فيon طريقa road
فحياتي مصروفة في طريق
للمناياfor death علىupon me فيهاon it طروقnightly visits
للمنايا على فيها طروق
Thus my life is spent along a road
So my life is spent on a path
On which death visits me by night.
