    مَا بَعدَهُ لِي فِي الأمَانِي مِن أرَبْ

    Whoever brings me news of your full pardon shall have whatever he asks;

beyond that, I have no further desire among my hopes.

And the least measure of your favor is the fulfillment

of all that one hoping to attain happiness desires.

    لاأختَشِي جَورَ الزَّمَانِ وإن غَلَبْ

    So if I gain it, I am safe;

I do not fear time's tyranny, even if it prevails.

And it most befits you to turn your gaze once more

to the plight of one who called on your compassion from close at hand.

Forbearance is a well-known trait in you,

O best of those who bestow kindness when victorious.

You are suns of guidance, and their rising

has decisively ended arbitrary oppression and unrest.

You, the two sons of Husayn, were specially favored with that

which pleases the master of sacred law and noble lineage.

You are the root of kingship, and within it yours are

the foremost standing and the lofty ranks.

Thus, through your sound judgment, its affairs were made to run

with ease; and you resolve thorny matters without toil.

O you who built a house for pardon—unceasingly

its pillars rise above the heads of shooting stars.

Here stands a tormented man, seeking refuge with you

from a lapse that cast him onto the paths of ruin.

It was grave, yet your pardon for it was

the Prophet's pardon for Ka'b's sin when he was afraid.

So grant this wish, whose sign

is a smile from you after that anger.

And extend a hand to me, that I may win the chance to kiss it,

and its bounty may lift this weariness from me.

May your life endure and your dignity be exalted,

as long as one who hopes gains from you what he has asked.
