أُحْدِثَwas newly built بَابُthe gate المَسجِدِof the mosque الجَامِعِcongregational
أُحْدِثَ بَابُ المَسجِدِ الجَامِعِ
بِأمْرِby order of مَولاَنَاour lord الرّضَاthe esteemed one القَامِعِthe subduer
بِأمْرِ مَولاَنَا الرّضَا القَامِعِ
The gate of the congregational mosque was newly built
The door of the grand mosque was opened
By order of our esteemed lord, the subduer,
By order of our master, the suppressor of dissent
عَلِيAli بَاشَاPasha بْنُson of الحُسَينِal-Husayn الذيwho
عَلِي بَاشَا بْنُ الحُسَينِ الذي
أحْسَنَshowed kindness لِلمُعْتَرِّto the seeker of aid وَالقَانِعِand the contented poor
أحْسَنَ لِلمُعْتَرِّ وَالقَانِعِ
Ali Pasha, son of al-Husayn, who
Ali Pasha son of Al-Hussein who
Showed kindness to the seeker of aid and the contented poor.
Did good for the content and the needy
وَكَمْand how many لَهُhe has مِنْof خَصْلَةٍa virtue أوجَبَتْmade obligatory
وَكَمْ لَهُ مِنْ خَصْلَةٍ أوجَبَتْ
ثَنَاءَهُpraise of him لِلرَّائِيfor the beholder وَالسَّامِعِand the hearer
ثَنَاءَهُ لِلرَّائِي وَالسَّامِعِ
And how many a virtue of his has made
And how many virtues of his necessitated
His praise incumbent on the beholder and the hearer!
His praise by speaker and listener
جَازَاهُmay He reward him ذُوthe possessor of الطَّولِbounty عَلَىfor فِعْلِهِhis deed
جَازَاهُ ذُو الطَّولِ عَلَى فِعْلِهِ
مِنْfrom مَطْلَبِwhat is sought by المَتْبُوعِthe leader وَالتَّابِعِand the follower
مِنْ مَطْلَبِ المَتْبُوعِ وَالتَّابِعِ
May the Lord of Bounty reward him for his deed
May He of endless generosity reward him for his deed
With what the leader and the follower seek;
From the wishes of the leader and the follower
وَدَامَand may he remain فِيin خَيْرٍwell-being ولَمَّاand when اسْتَوَىit was completed
وَدَامَ فِي خَيْرٍ ولَمَّا اسْتَوَى
أرَّخْتُهُI dated it بَابُa gate رِضىًfavor وَاسِعِample
أرَّخْتُهُ بَابُ رِضىً وَاسِعِ
And may he remain in well-being; and when it was completed,
And may he live on in goodness and when he rose
I dated it: "A gate of ample favor."
I dated it, a door of vast approval
