May God preserve what He fashioned on your face:

A garden where glances flowed, and it blossomed.

The obstinate denier of your existence reached his limit,

Until you appeared in the world, and he cried, 'God is greatest!'

And his fair one would have melted from excess,

Had the breeze not kept him from dripping.

    فَالحُسنَ أضْمَرَ وَالمَلاَحَةَ أظْهَرَا

    He attained perfection in all its varied forms;

Thus he concealed beauty and revealed charm.

Modesty dyed the hue of his white myrtle,

So it appeared to the eyes as a red rose.

And his skin melted at the breeze's passing,

So basil twined a green wall for him.
