فلا وليد عن الأرقال يعقلُني

فلا وليد عن الأرقال يعقلُني

ولا غريم إلى قاضٍ يقاضيني

ولا غريم إلى قاضٍ يقاضيني

No child, then, holds me back from hastening onward,

So no child holds me back from swift travel,

nor does any creditor sue me before a judge.

And no creditor takes me before a judge.

وليس لي غير نعل بتّ أخصِفُها

وليس لي غير نعل بتّ أخصِفُها

ومحجَنٍ وقليل العيش يكفيني

ومحجَنٍ وقليل العيش يكفيني

I have nothing but a sandal I spend the night patching,

And I have nothing but a sandal I spent the night mending,

and a crook; a meager livelihood is enough for me.

And a hooked staff; a little sustenance suffices me.
