كَفاني المَجوسِيُّ مَهرَ الرَباب

كَفاني المَجوسِيُّ مَهرَ الرَباب

فِدىً لِلمَجوسِيِّ خالٌ وَعَم

فِدىً لِلمَجوسِيِّ خالٌ وَعَم

The Magian has taken care of Rabab’s bride-price for me;

The Magian covered al-Rabab's dowry for me.

may my maternal and paternal uncles be ransomed for the Magian!

May a maternal uncle and a paternal uncle be ransom for the Magian.

شَهِدتُ بِأَنَّكَ رَطبُ المُشاش

شَهِدتُ بِأَنَّكَ رَطبُ المُشاش

وَأَنَّكَ بَحرٌ جَوادٌ خِضَم

وَأَنَّكَ بَحرٌ جَوادٌ خِضَم

I testify that you are tender to the marrow,

I bear witness that you are soft of joint,

and that you are a generous, boundless sea,

And that you are a sea, generous and vast,

وَأَنَّكَ سَيِّدُ أَهلِ الجَحيم

وَأَنَّكَ سَيِّدُ أَهلِ الجَحيم

إِذا ما تَرَدَّيتَ في مَن ظَلَم

إِذا ما تَرَدَّيتَ في مَن ظَلَم

and that you are lord of the people of Hell

And that you are chief of the people of Hell,

when you plunge into it among the wrongdoers.

When you fall headlong among those who have done wrong.

تُجاوِرُ هامانَ في قَعرِها

تُجاوِرُ هامانَ في قَعرِها

وَفِرعَونَ والمُكتَني بالحَكَم

وَفِرعَونَ والمُكتَني بالحَكَم

You will dwell beside Haman in its depths,

You will dwell beside Haman at its bottom,

and Pharaoh, and the one surnamed al-Hakam.

And Pharaoh, and the one bearing the byname al-Hakam.
