Tamim son of Murr, cease deliberately subjecting me

To humiliation, for I am not one to abase myself.

Does the Hujaymi slave mock me in his folly,

While one like me has struck the powerful, misguided man

With a dire calamity that cannot be withstood

By lofty peaks on the flanks of Salma and Yadhbul?

And by God, were it not that my forbearance restrains me,

I would have left Tamim a laughingstock at every gathering.

So desist—may the Lord of Majesty cast disgrace upon you,

That greets you in the morning at every gathering and dwelling.

    وَأَلأَمُكُم طُرّاً حُرَيثُ بنُ جَندَلِ

    For you are the scoundrels of mankind—you do not deny it;

And the basest of you all is Hurayth son of Jandal.
