أَياO صاحِبيmy friend أَبشِرrejoice بِزَورَتِناat our visit to الحِمىthe protected grounds
أَيا صاحِبي أَبشِر بِزَورَتِنا الحِمى
وَأَهلَand the people of الحِمىthe protected grounds مِنincluding مُبغِضٍone who hates وَوَدودِand one who is loving
وَأَهلَ الحِمى مِن مُبغِضٍ وَوَدودِ
O my friend, rejoice at our visit to the protected grounds,
My friend, rejoice at our visit to the tribe,
and their people, both hostile and loving.
Both friend and foe of the clan,
قَدِindeed اِختَلَجَتtwitched عَينيmy eye فَدَلَّand so indicated اِختِلاجُهاits twitching
قَدِ اِختَلَجَت عَيني فَدَلَّ اِختِلاجُها
عَلىto حُسنِthe beauty of وَصلٍreunion بَعدَafter قُبحِthe ugliness of صُدودِrejection
عَلى حُسنِ وَصلٍ بَعدَ قُبحِ صُدودِ
My eye has twitched, and its twitching has signaled
My eyes twitched in joyful welcome,
a beautiful reunion after ugly rejection.
Signaling the beauty of reunion after the ugliness of separation.
