سَريعٌquick إِلىtoward اِبنِson العَمِّthe paternal uncle يَلطِمُhe slaps وَجهَهُhis face
سَريعٌ إِلى اِبنِ العَمِّ يَلطِمُ وَجهَهُ
وَلَيسَbut he is not إِلىtoward دَاعيone calling for النَدىgenerosity بِسَريعِat all quick
وَلَيسَ إِلى دَاعي النَدى بِسَريعِ
He is quick to go to his cousin and slap his face,
He is quick to slap his cousin's face
but not quick to answer a call to generosity.
Yet not quick to answer one who calls him to righteousness
حَريصٌgreedy عَلىfor الدُنياthis world مُضيعٌneglectful لِدينِهِof his religion
حَريصٌ عَلى الدُنيا مُضيعٌ لِدينِهِ
ولَيسَbut he is not لِماof what فيin بَيتِهِhis house بِمُضيعِat all neglectful
ولَيسَ لِما في بَيتِهِ بِمُضيعِ
Greedy for this world, neglectful of his religion,
Eager for worldly things, neglectful of his faith
but not neglectful of what is in his house.
Yet does not neglect that which is in his own house
