وَمَنand who ليfor me بِأَنthat أَسطيعَI can أَنto أَذكُرَmention اِسمَهُhis name
وَمَن لي بِأَن أَسطيعَ أَن أَذكُرَ اِسمَهُ
وَأَعياand proved too much for عِقالاًʿIqāl أَنto يُطيقَhe could manage لَهُof him ذِكراa mention
وَأَعيا عِقالاً أَن يُطيقَ لَهُ ذِكرا
And who can assure me that I can mention his name,
Who will enable me to remember his name?
When even ʿIqāl could not manage to mention him?
My mind cannot bear the burden of his memory.
