أَتَيتُكَI came to you إنَّindeed الباهِلِيَّal-Bahili يَسوقُنيdrives me
أَتَيتُكَ إنَّ الباهِلِيَّ يَسوقُني
بدَينٍfor a debt وَمَطلوبُand one pursued الدُيونِthe debts رَقيقُa slave
بدَينٍ وَمَطلوبُ الدُيونِ رَقيقُ
I have come to you; indeed, al-Bahili drives me
My younger days when debts would accrue
for a debt, and one pursued for debts is a slave.
The bailiff came to claim what was his due
ثلاثَتُناthe three of us إنif يَسَّرَmakes it easy اللَهُGod فائِزٌone who wins
ثلاثَتُنا إن يَسَّرَ اللَهُ فائِزٌ
بأجرٍwith a reward وَمُعطىand one given حَقُّهُhis due وَعَتيقُand one set free
بأجرٍ وَمُعطى حَقُّهُ وَعَتيقُ
The three of us, if God grants ease: one will win
But now the Lord has blessed me times three
a reward, one will be given his due, and one will be set free.
My debts repaid, rewards gained, and freedom's glee
