أَلم تَعلَمي بالحَيِّ سُفلى ديارِهم

أَلم تَعلَمي بالحَيِّ سُفلى ديارِهم

بِفَلجٍ وأَعلاها بِصارَةَ والقَهرِ

بِفَلجٍ وأَعلاها بِصارَةَ والقَهرِ

Did you not know of the tribe, whose lower dwellings

Did you not know the dwellings of the tribe

Are at Falj, and whose upper ones are at Ṣārah and al-Qahr?

Have their low part in Falaj, their high part Sarat and El Kahar

وَلِلعادِياتِ القَهقَري بينَ رِيِّهِ

وَلِلعادِياتِ القَهقَري بينَ رِيِّهِ

وبينَ الوِحافِ مِن كُماتٍ وَمِن شُقرِ

وبينَ الوِحافِ مِن كُماتٍ وَمِن شُقرِ

And the galloping steeds retreat between its watering place

And for the rolling sands between the meadows

And al-Wiḥāf—some dark bays and some chestnuts.

Of it and El Wihaf are Koumat and Shoqar
