لا تَسْتَرِب منْ ذا النحولِ فإنَّهُ

لا تَسْتَرِب منْ ذا النحولِ فإنَّهُ

صدأٌ أصابَ الصارمَ المصقولا

صدأٌ أصابَ الصارمَ المصقولا

Have no misgivings about this wasting, for it is

Do not seek protection from one so emaciated, for he

rust that has struck the keen, polished sword.

Is but rust that clings to the polished blade.

فالبدرُ يُكْسَف في عُلُوِّ مكانِه

فالبدرُ يُكْسَف في عُلُوِّ مكانِه

والوَعْكُ يَدْخُلُ للهزبرِ الغِيلا

والوَعْكُ يَدْخُلُ للهزبرِ الغِيلا

For the full moon is eclipsed in its lofty station,

The full moon is eclipsed at the height of its course,

and fever enters the thicket to reach the lion.

And the raven perches on the hilt made bright.
