Who will do me justice against an oppressor into whose hands has fallen

the ruling on my case? He then denied my right, though he knows it.

And how can he hope to prevail in his case—

one whose affairs are in the hands of someone who does not do him justice?

He treats me badly when I show him kindness; so neither

my complaint avails, nor does my suffering move him to compassion.

Indeed, he and I, in my kindness and his coldness,

are like wax and fire: wax gives fire life, and fire destroys it.
