Ours are rivers of milk and wine,

And of honey, and of flowing water.

And in our rivers are pebbles of raw gold,

    And pearls among precious rubies.

And our sacred temple contains a spirit,

And a body, and companion with companion.

We sprinkle upon it some subtle water,

By which it lives, and which warms it gently.

And we wash it with seawater until

Its shadows leave it for a time.

And we make its body a subtle spirit,

So the two mingle in the hidden shelter.

That, then, is our remedy—the antidote that cures

The deep-seated disease with a draught of it.
