If the earth is not sifted repeatedly,
If the earth were not sifted again and again,
it becomes neither water nor air,
There would be neither water, nor air,
وصارand became جميعall سعيكمyour striving هباءَdust
nor fire, nor new earth,
Nor new land, nor fire.
and all your striving turns to dust.
All your efforts would be in vain.

And be certain that your earth, after dispersal,
Know that after winter your land,
when it becomes water during the treatment,
When handled skillfully, turns to water,

remains and does not vanish, without a little tail,
That stays without shifting or sin,
nor any hidden spirit, nor blood.
Without a soul that mourns or sheds blood.
وإنّand indeed هواءناour air والنارand fire نفسa spirit
بمنخلناthrough our sieve قدalready اكتسبتit acquired رواءَa fine appearance
And indeed, our air and fire are a spirit
For our air and fire themselves
that has acquired a fine appearance through our sieve.
Have acquired freshness through our sifting.

So if you return its moisture to it,
If you returned the chaff to them,
it grants them permanence in the fire.
It would give them life again in the fire.

لهbelonging to it ذنباًa tail وصَيَّرَهand turned it into غذاءُfood
It is the dragon: it grew hungry, and a head sucked
It is the dragon, hungry, whose head
a tail belonging to it and turned it into food.
Has swallowed its tail and made it its food.
