رأى اللّهُ لي فيما يراهُ لِيَ العِدَى

رأى اللّهُ لي فيما يراهُ لِيَ العِدَى

وكان بهِم لا بي وقد جَهِدُوا الرَّدَى

وكان بهِم لا بي وقد جَهِدُوا الرَّدَى

God chose what was best for me in what my foes intended for me;

God saw for me in what He sees for me, the hostility,

and ruin befell them, not me, despite their striving.

And it was against them, not me, though they exhausted adversity,

بلغتُ المَدى لما صبرتُ وأخطأتْ

بلغتُ المَدى لما صبرتُ وأخطأتْ

مساعي رجالٍ أخطَأوا سُبُلَ الهُدَى

مساعي رجالٍ أخطَأوا سُبُلَ الهُدَى

I reached the goal through patience, while fruitless proved

I reached the goal when I was patient and they were wrong,

the efforts of men who missed the paths of right guidance.

The endeavors of men who missed the paths of guidance.

ومن رامَ ما لا بُدَّ منهُ فما لَهُ

ومن رامَ ما لا بُدَّ منهُ فما لَهُ

من الصْبرِ بُدٌّ طالَ أم قَصُرَ المَدى

من الصْبرِ بُدٌّ طالَ أم قَصُرَ المَدى

And whoever seeks what he cannot do without has no

And he who desires what is inevitable, what can he do

alternative to patience, whether the span be long or short.

With patience, whether the course be long or short?

وإنَّ الذي أعطَى وأجزلَ أوَّلاً

وإنَّ الذي أعطَى وأجزلَ أوَّلاً

ومنَّ أخيراً ليس يترُكُنِي سُدى

ومنَّ أخيراً ليس يترُكُنِي سُدى

And surely He who gave, and gave generously, at first,

And indeed He who gave generously and rewarded

and bestowed favor later will not leave me forsaken.

First and favored last, will not leave me negligently.
