منwhoever قاسَcompares بالعلمِagainst knowledge الثراءَwealth فإنَّهُthen indeed he
فيin حُكمهِhis judgment أعمىblind البصيرةِinsight كاذبُuntruthful
Whoever measures wealth against knowledge is indeed
blind of insight and false in his judgment.
العلمُknowledge تخدمُهyou serve it بنفسكyourself دائماًalways
والمالُand wealth يخدمُserves عنكَon your behalf فيهin it نائبُa deputy
You always tend knowledge in person,
while a deputy tends wealth on your behalf.
والمالُand wealth يُسلَبُis plundered أوor يبِيدُperishes لحادثٍthrough a misfortune
والعلمُand knowledge لاnot يُخشَىis feared عليهfor it سالبُa plunderer
And wealth is plundered or perishes through misfortune,
while knowledge has no plunderer to fear.
والعلمُand knowledge نقشٌan engraving فيin فؤادِكَyour heart راسخٌfirmly established
والمالُand wealth ظِلٌّa shadow عنaway from فِنائِكَyour courtyard ذاهبُdeparting
And knowledge is an engraving firmly set in your heart,
while wealth is a shadow departing from your courtyard.

The former's flow grows more abundant with spending,
forever, while the latter runs dry when spent.
