We turned aside to the valley bend, where across
We clung to the trunk that stretched its
its reaches the clouds had spread a carpet of flowers,
Boughs while the clouds spread their floral rug,

around a pool whose water, tracing its descent
Around a pool whose water complained to
to the daughters of the rainclouds, complains of the cold.
The slender waists of the Pleiades.

لانقلبتْ وهي نَسيمُ السَّحَرْ
If the wind sought refuge beside it as a scorching blast,
Had the wind sought refuge in its poison,
it would be transformed into a breeze before dawn.
It would have reverted, being the morning breeze.

Its pebbles are pearls, and its gravel
Its pebbles are pearls and its gravel
is gold filings around the pearls.
Is chamomile flowers around the gems.

And from its own weaving the wind has clothed it
The wind wove it a coat of her own weaving
in mail with which it meets the arrows of rain.
To meet the arrows of rain.

And from its light the sun has robed it
The sun dressed it in her own light
in radiance with which it steals the light of sight,
To seize the sight’s light.

as though it were a mirror, polished bright,
It is like a polished mirror
upon a green carpet spread out.
On a green carpet that is unrolled.
