جامِلْ أخاك إِذا استربْتَ بوُدِّهِ

جامِلْ أخاك إِذا استربْتَ بوُدِّهِ

وانْظُرْ به عُقَبَ الزمان يعاودِ

وانْظُرْ به عُقَبَ الزمان يعاودِ

Be gracious to your brother if you doubt his affection.

When you gain your brother's love, keep it,

And wait for him through the turns of time; he will return.

For time may change and fade the glow.

وإنِ استَمَرَّ به الفَسادُ فخَلِّهِ

وإنِ استَمَرَّ به الفَسادُ فخَلِّهِ

فالغُصْنُ يُقْطَعُ للفسادِ الزائدِ

فالغُصْنُ يُقْطَعُ للفسادِ الزائدِ

And if corruption persists in him, then leave him.

But if corruption stays within his heart,

For a branch is cut off because of increasing decay.

Then break with him, as branches lopped from trees.
