يسودُ الفتَى قومَهُ بالفَعال

يسودُ الفتَى قومَهُ بالفَعال

وليس بأكرمِهمْ مَحْتِدَا

وليس بأكرمِهمْ مَحْتِدَا

A young man leads his people through deeds,

The youth leads his people by his deeds,

though he is not the noblest among them in lineage.

Yet he is not the most generous among them.

ومن جوهرِ السيفِ صارَ الحديد

ومن جوهرِ السيفِ صارَ الحديد

بقيمةِ أضعافِه عَسْجَدَا

بقيمةِ أضعافِه عَسْجَدَا

And through the sword’s fine quality, iron became

And from the essence of the sword, iron was made,

gold worth many times its former value.

At a value of several times its own.
