ظُلومٌ لَيسَ يُنصِفُني

ظُلومٌ لَيسَ يُنصِفُني

يُواعِدُني فَيُخلِفُني

يُواعِدُني فَيُخلِفُني

A cruel one does not treat me fairly.

Unjust oppressors don't treat me fairly

He promises me, then breaks his promise.

They make promises just to fail me

يَضِنُّ بِما أُكَلِّفُهُ

يَضِنُّ بِما أُكَلِّفُهُ

وَأَبذُلُ ما يُكَلِّفُني

وَأَبذُلُ ما يُكَلِّفُني

He begrudges what I ask of him,

They resent what I task them with

And I give whatever he asks of me.

While I give what they task me

يَقولُ وَقَد شَكَوتُ إِلَي

يَقولُ وَقَد شَكَوتُ إِلَي

هِ ما أَلقى أَتَعرِفُني

هِ ما أَلقى أَتَعرِفُني

He says, after I have complained to

They say when I complain to them

him of what I suffer, “Do you know me?”

Of what I face "Do you know me?"

فَقُلتُ لَهُ أَأُنكِرُ مَن

فَقُلتُ لَهُ أَأُنكِرُ مَن

يُعَذِّبُني وَيُتلِفُني

يُعَذِّبُني وَيُتلِفُني

So I said to him, “Could I fail to recognize one

I said "How can I not recognize

who torments me and destroys me?”

Those who torture and torment me?"
