سَلاforgot أَحِبَّتَهhis loved ones منwhoever لَمdid not يَذُقtaste كَمَداanguish
سَلا أَحِبَّتَه من لَم يَذُق كَمَدا
يَومَon the day of الفِراقِthe parting وَلَوand even if أَذرىshed الدُموعَthe tears دَماblood
يَومَ الفِراقِ وَلَو أَذرى الدُموعَ دَما
He has forgotten his loved ones who has not tasted anguish
Whoever has not tasted separation from his beloved
On the day of parting, even if he shed tears of blood.
On the day of parting, even if he sheds blood instead of tears
إِنّيindeed I أَسأتُI wronged إِلىto سَمعيmy hearing بفرقتهمthrough separation from them
إِنّي أَسأتُ إِلى سَمعي بفرقتهم
أَناI ظَلمتُI did wrong ومنand the one whom أَهواهُI love him ماnot ظَلماhe did wrong
أَنا ظَلمتُ ومن أَهواهُ ما ظَلما
Indeed, I have wronged my hearing through separation from them.
I have wronged my hearing by parting from them
It was I who did wrong; the one I love did not.
I have done wrong, and the one I love has done no wrong
