كَأَنَّas though بِلادَthe lands of اللَهِGod وَهيَthough they are عَريضَةٌvast
كَأَنَّ بِلادَ اللَهِ وَهيَ عَريضَةٌ
عَلىto الخائِفِthe frightened one المَذعورِthe terrified one كُفَّةُa circular snare حابِلِa trapper
عَلى الخائِفِ المَذعورِ كُفَّةُ حابِلِ
As though God's lands, vast though they are,
As if the lands of God, though vast,
were a trapper's snare to the frightened, terrified man.
Were to the frightened refugee like a child’s ball,
يُؤَدّىis conveyed إِلَيهِto him أَنَّthat كُلَّevery ثَنِيَّةٍmountain pass
يُؤَدّى إِلَيهِ أَنَّ كُلَّ ثَنِيَّةٍ
تَيَمَّمَهاhe heads toward it تَرميit hurls إِلَيهِtoward him بِقاتِلِwith a killer
تَيَمَّمَها تَرمي إِلَيهِ بِقاتِلِ
He is told that every mountain pass
Flung at him, so that every vale
he heads toward hurls a killer at him.
He fled to seemed to launch a killer at him.
