Al-Muʿadhdhal surely knew, on the day he called
Al-Mu'adhdhal knew the day he called out
at Dhiʾba, on the day of Dhiʾba, when he called us,
With Tha'labah the day of Tha'labah when he called us

that the horsemen of Ṭayyiʾ protected him when
The horsemen of Tayyi' refused him when
he wept in anguish; and without them he would have perished.
He wept bitterly, and if not for them he would have perished
