Ramadan scorched me, then made me ill with ṣād-
Ramadan tormented me, so it made me sick with headaches numbering the four dispositions
words, as many as the four humors:
Fasting and jaundice make me swallow misery

وصبابةٌ وصدودُ من قلبي مَعَهْ
Fasting, and yellow bile that makes me swallow death,
And youth and estrangement from my heart are with it
And ardent longing, and rejection by the one my heart is with.
