يا سائلي وصفَ مولانا أبي الحسنِ
مسافرٍMusafir فيin بديعِwondrous القولِspeech محكمِهِits well-wrought form
مسافرٍ في بديعِ القولِ محكمِهِ
O you who ask me to describe our lord Abu al-Hasan,
O you who ask to describe our Master Abul Hasan
Musafir, in wondrous, well-wrought speech:
A traveler in the perfection of eloquence and its solidity
المسكُmusk منfrom ذِكْرِهِmention of him والمزنُand rain clouds منfrom يدِهِhis hand
المسكُ من ذِكْرِهِ والمزنُ من يدِهِ
والروضُand gardens منfrom خُلْقِهِhis character والدرُّand pearls منfrom فمِهِhis mouth
والروضُ من خُلْقِهِ والدرُّ من فمِهِ
Musk comes from mention of him, and rain clouds from his hand;
Musk is from his mention, beautiful gardens from his hand
And gardens from his character, and pearls from his mouth.
And pearls from his mouth, meadows from his manners
