ياO زماناًtime نعيمُهُits bliss
يا زماناً نعيمُهُ
لمhas not يُعَرِّجْalighted علىupon يَديmy hand
لم يُعَرِّجْ على يَدي
O time, whose bliss
O time, whose bliss
has not alighted upon my hand—
Has never descended upon my hand
كنسيمٍlike a breeze مُعَقَّدٍknotted
كنسيمٍ مُعَقَّدٍ
وشعاعٍand a ray مُجَسَّدِembodied
وشعاعٍ مُجَسَّدِ
like a knotted breeze
Like a knotted breeze
and an embodied ray.
And embodied ray—
طيبُهُits sweetness كالكَرَىlike slumber يُلِfirst part of 'alights'
طيبُهُ كالكَرَى يُلِ
مُّlast part of 'alights' بجَفْنِupon the eyelid of المُسَهَّدِthe sleepless one
مُّ بجَفْنِ المُسَهَّدِ
Its sweetness is like slumber that
Its fragrance drizzles
alights upon the sleepless one's eyelid,
On the eyelid of one lying down
أوor كخلقlike the character of المؤملal-Muʾammal بfirst part of 'son of'
أو كخلق المؤمل ب
نِlast part of 'son of' الخليلِal-Khalīl بنson of أحمدِAḥmad
نِ الخليلِ بن أحمدِ
or like the character of al-Muʾammal, son
Or like the creation of the hopeful with
of al-Khalīl, son of Aḥmad.
