    O letter folded over snakes,

And scorpions that clouded the water of my life [the text reads 'repeated'].

You are nothing but one of the torments of heartache,

And one of the bills of exchange of sorrows and regrets.

And it is as though your loathsome letters were eyes

For watchers, or tongues for slanderers.

So too with estates: their valuation notes, when

They arrive, bring reports of calamities.
