بعثتُ إلى سيِّدي سُكَّراً

حلاوتُهُ في قرارِ الصدورْ

حلاوتُهُ في قرارِ الصدورْ

I sent my lord some sugar,

I sent to my master some sweets

Its sweetness in the depths of hearts,

Whose sweetness settles in hearts' depths

وشمعاً يمزِّقُ ثوبَ الدُّجى

وشمعاً يمزِّقُ ثوبَ الدُّجى

ويُلْبِسُ جيرانَهُ ثوبَ نورْ

ويُلْبِسُ جيرانَهُ ثوبَ نورْ

And candles that rend the robe of darkness

And a candle that tears through the veil of darkness

And clothe their neighbors in a robe of light.
