أقول إذ سألوني عن مروءةِ من
ماemphatic particle لاnot يقاسُis compared بأندادٍwith peers وأكفاءِand equals
ما لا يقاسُ بأندادٍ وأكفاءِ
I say, when they asked me about the noble character of one
When asked of the manliness of a man
Who cannot be compared with peers and equals:
Whose peers and equals cannot be found
محمدٌMuhammad لمروءاتto the noble virtues of الأنامhumankind غداhas become
محمدٌ لمروءات الأنام غدا
كالزَّنْدِlike the firestick للنارِto fire والينبوعِand the spring للماءِto water
كالزَّنْدِ للنارِ والينبوعِ للماءِ
Muhammad has become, to humankind’s noble virtues,
Muhammad has become for mankind's manliness
Like the firestick to fire, and the spring to water.
Like flint for fire, like a fountainhead for water
