لقاؤكَ يحكي قضاءَ الحوائِجْ

لقاؤكَ يحكي قضاءَ الحوائِجْ

ووجهُكَ للهمِّ والغمِّ فارِجْ

ووجهُكَ للهمِّ والغمِّ فارِجْ

Meeting you is like having one’s needs fulfilled,

And your face dispels worry and sorrow.

وفيكَ لنا فِتَنٌ أربعٌ

وفيكَ لنا فِتَنٌ أربعٌ

تَسُلُّ علينا سيوفَ الخوارِجْ

تَسُلُّ علينا سيوفَ الخوارِجْ

And in you are four temptations for us

That unsheathe the Kharijites’ swords against us:

لحاظُ الظباءِ وطوقُ الحمام

لحاظُ الظباءِ وطوقُ الحمام

ومشيُ القباجِ وزيُّ التدارجْ

ومشيُ القباجِ وزيُّ التدارجْ

The glances of gazelles and the neck-ring of doves,

And the gait of partridges and the plumage of pheasants.
