أماDo you not ترىsee اليومَthe day مِسكيَّmusk-scented الهواءِthe air وقدwhile already
أما ترى اليومَ مِسكيَّ الهواءِ وقد
مَدَّتْhas spread يدُthe hand الشمسِof the sun فيin حافاتِهاher edges الكُللاthe veils
مَدَّتْ يدُ الشمسِ في حافاتِها الكُللا
Do you not see the day, its air musk-scented, while
Don't you see the air is fragrant today,
the sun's hand has spread veils along her edges?
The sun has stretched her hands into her train,
كأنَّماas though شمسُهُits sun قدalready أبصرتْsaw قمريmy moon
كأنَّما شمسُهُ قد أبصرتْ قمري
يُرْبيexcels عليهاover her فغطَّتْso she veiled وجهَهاher face خَجَلاin shame
يُرْبي عليها فغطَّتْ وجهَها خَجَلا
As though its sun had seen my moon
As if her sun had seen my moon's face
outshining her, so she veiled her face in shame.
And drew across her face her veil, out of shame.
