بأبي من اذا أراد سراري

عبرت لي أنفاسه عن عبير

عبرت لي أنفاسه عن عبير

My father be ransom for him who, when he wishes to whisper to me,

his breaths speak to me of perfume.

وسباني ثغر كدرٍّ نظيم

وسباني ثغر كدرٍّ نظيم

تحته منطق كدرٍّ نثير

تحته منطق كدرٍّ نثير

And a mouth like strung pearls has captivated me;

beneath it is speech like scattered pearls.

وله طلعة كنيل الأماني

وله طلعة كنيل الأماني

أو كشعر المهلبي الوزير

أو كشعر المهلبي الوزير

And his countenance is like the fulfillment of wishes,

or like the poetry of al-Muhallabi, the vizier.
