My heart is ablaze with longing,

enfolding sorrows.

وقد كستني في الهوى

وقد كستني في الهوى

ملابسَ الصبِّ الغَزِلْ

ملابسَ الصبِّ الغَزِلْ

And in love I have been clothed

in the garments of a lovesick, amorous lover

إنسانةٌ فتَّانةٌ

إنسانةٌ فتَّانةٌ

بدر الدُّجى منها خَجِلْ

بدر الدُّجى منها خَجِلْ

by a bewitching woman;

the full moon of night blushes before her.

إذا زَنَتْ عيني بها

إذا زَنَتْ عيني بها

فبالدموعِ تغتسلْ

فبالدموعِ تغتسلْ

Whenever my eye commits adultery with her,

then it washes itself with tears.
