ألا إنَّ الغِنى للمرءِ روحُ

ألا إنَّ الغِنى للمرءِ روحُ

وإن غناءهُ في الأُذنِ ريحُ

وإن غناءهُ في الأُذنِ ريحُ

Behold, wealth is a man's soul,

And indeed, his singing is wind in the ear.

وما بمُحَصِّلٍ عقلاً ودينا

وما بمُحَصِّلٍ عقلاً ودينا

ليذهبَ منهُ بينَ الريحِ روحُ

ليذهبَ منهُ بينَ الريحِ روحُ

And no man who has acquired reason and faith

Would let his soul depart from him amid the wind.
