You see me as unskilled at composing words
whose stately form is adorned by meaning fine and subtle.
whose grandeur is adorned by subtle meaning;
ولكنbut لاnot تَدِقُّbecome subtle بناتُthe daughters فكريof my thought
ولكن لا تَدِقُّ بناتُ فكري
إذاwhen ماemphatic particle قيلَit is said قدalready فنيَhas run out الدقيقُthe flour
إذا ما قيلَ قد فنيَ الدقيقُ
Yet the daughters of my thought fashion nothing fine
yet the daughters of my thought do not grow subtle
whenever it is said, “The fine flour has run out.”
