إن غِبتُ عنك شكوتني

إن غِبتُ عنك شكوتني

وإذا وَصَلْتُ هَجَرْتني

وإذا وَصَلْتُ هَجَرْتني

If I am absent from you, you complain about me.

If I am far from you, you blame me,

And when I come to you, you forsake me.

And if I come to you, you ignore me.

وتظلُّ لي مُسْتَبْطِئاً

وتظلُّ لي مُسْتَبْطِئاً

فإذا حضرتُ حجبتني

فإذا حضرتُ حجبتني

And you keep thinking me slow to come,

You remain distant to me,

Yet when I arrive, you shut me out.

So when I am present, you veil yourself from me.
