قولوا لعثمانَ في أوقاتِ طيبتِهِ

قولوا لعثمانَ في أوقاتِ طيبتِهِ

إذا تبسَّمَ عن دُرٍّ وياقوتِ

إذا تبسَّمَ عن دُرٍّ وياقوتِ

Tell Uthman, in his moments of good cheer,

Tell Uthman in his happy times,

when he smiles, revealing pearls and rubies:

When he smiles from pearls and rubies,

إنِّي أراكَ تبيعُ الناسَ قوتَهُمُ

إنِّي أراكَ تبيعُ الناسَ قوتَهُمُ

ففيمَ تمنعُ عنِّي القوتَ يا قوتي

ففيمَ تمنعُ عنِّي القوتَ يا قوتي

Indeed, I see you selling people their sustenance;

I see you selling people their livelihood,

so why do you withhold sustenance from me, O my sustenance?

Why then deny me sustenance, O my sustenance?
