بدا وجهكَ الميمونُ في أُفق المجد

كما الكوكبُ الدّريّ في الطّالع السّعدِ

Your auspicious face appeared on the horizon of glory,

Your auspicious face dawned on the horizon of glory

Like a radiant star in an auspicious ascendant.

Like the shining star in the ascent of good fortune

وكفّك من صوْب الحَيا وكَفت لنا

وكفّك من صوْب الحَيا وكَفت لنا

غمائمها من غير برْق ولا رعدِ

غمائمها من غير برْق ولا رعدِ

And your hand has poured rainshowers upon us,

And your hand from the side of life has saved us

From its clouds, without lightning or thunder.

أَبا العرب المحمُود يا معدن العُلى

أَبا العرب المحمُود يا معدن العُلى

ويا زينة الدّنيا ويا علمَ الأَزدِ

ويا زينة الدّنيا ويا علمَ الأَزدِ

O praised Abu al-Arab, O source of eminence,

O father of the Arabs, the praised, O source of sublimity

And O adornment of the world, and O banner of the Azd!

And ornament of the world, and banner of Azd

ملوك الورى من أزدها ومَعدها

ملوك الورى من أزدها ومَعدها

وأَرباب دنياها من السّهل والنّجدِ

وأَرباب دنياها من السّهل والنّجدِ

The kings of humankind, from among the Azd and Ma'add,

Kings of mankind, from its Azd and Ma'ad

And the lords of its world, from lowland and highland—

And masters of its world, from the plain and highland

هُمُ دَوّخوا الأملاك قِدْمَاً وثَبّتوا

هُمُ دَوّخوا الأملاك قِدْمَاً وثَبّتوا

عمادَ العلى بالبيض والسُّمر والجُردِ

عمادَ العلى بالبيض والسُّمر والجُردِ

They subdued monarchs long ago and made firm

They subdued kingdoms of old and established

The pillar of eminence with white blades, brown spears, and sleek steeds.

The pillars of glory with white, brown, and chestnut steeds

وهم أَسكنوا جيرانهم من حماهمُ

وهم أَسكنوا جيرانهم من حماهمُ

منزل كالأغيال تُمنع بالأْسْدِ

منزل كالأغيال تُمنع بالأْسْدِ

And they settled their neighbors within their protected domain,

And they settled their neighbors under their protection

In a dwelling like thickets guarded by lions.

A settlement like the deep pools protected by lions

وهمْ شيّدوا بيت العتيكِ وايّدوا

وهمْ شيّدوا بيت العتيكِ وايّدوا

لهم جبلاً في العزّ ليس بمنْهَدِ

لهم جبلاً في العزّ ليس بمنْهَدِ

And they raised the house of al-Atik and buttressed

And they built the House of Atik and supported for it

For them a mountain of might that does not crumble.

A mountain in glory that cannot be shaken

وهمْ ورّثوا أبناءُ نبهان سُؤدداً

وهمْ ورّثوا أبناءُ نبهان سُؤدداً

ترى كلَّ حرٍّ عندهم فيه كالعبدِ

ترى كلَّ حرٍّ عندهم فيه كالعبدِ

And they bequeathed to the sons of Nabhan a lordly eminence,

And they inherited from the sons of Nabhan, Soodda

In which you see every free man before them as a slave.

You see every freeman among them like a slave

غدا الدَّهرُ يُطري آل نبهان بالعُلى

غدا الدَّهرُ يُطري آل نبهان بالعُلى

ويعرب عن تفْضيل يعرب بالجهدِ

ويعرب عن تفْضيل يعرب بالجهدِ

Time has come to extol the house of Nabhan for its eminence,

Tomorrow time makes the clan of Nabhan fly with glory

And earnestly proclaims Ya'rub's superiority.

And speaks preference that speaks with effort

سَلِ اللهُ أَن يبقي أَبا العرب الرّضى

سَلِ اللهُ أَن يبقي أَبا العرب الرّضى

على مجده السَّامي وفي عيشهِ الرغدِ

على مجده السَّامي وفي عيشهِ الرغدِ

Ask God to preserve the worthy Abu al-Arab

May God make the father of the Arabs, the pleased, live

In his exalted glory and his life of plenty.

In his sublime glory and comfortable life
