يهنيكَmay it gladden you فيin حسبancestral honor أباO father of اسحاقِIshaq
يهنيكَ في حسب أبا اسحاقِ
شرفُhonor العلىlofty rank ومكارمand virtues الأَخلاقِcharacter
شرفُ العلى ومكارم الأَخلاقِ
May you be blessed in your ancestral honor, Abu Ishaq,
You are praised for your noble pedigree, Abū Ishāq,
with the glory of lofty rank and the virtues of character.
The glory of the exalted and the generosity of character.
ياسيداًO master بسطspread النّدىbounty حتىuntil نضاstripped off
ياسيداً بسط النّدى حتى نضا
بالبرّthrough kindness عناfrom us حلةَthe robe الإملاقِdestitution
بالبرّ عنا حلةَ الإملاقِ
O master, you spread your bounty until you stripped
O lord who spread prosperity till it became abundant
from us, through kindness, the robe of destitution.
With your righteousness, the mantle of honor.
وأعادand restored فيضabundant flow حياةlife أفنانbranches الغنىwealth
وأعاد فيض حياة أفنان الغنى
بينamong العفاةseekers of bounty كثيرةَabundant in الإيراقِfoliage
بين العفاة كثيرةَ الإيراقِ
And restored life's flow to the branches of wealth,
And you restored the overflowing bounty of beneficence
among seekers of bounty, abundant in foliage.
Among the poor, so very generous.
لمdid not يخلbecome empty موضعthe place of مالهhis wealth منwithin نفسهhis soul
لم يخل موضع ماله من نفسه
إلاexcept لفرطfor the intensity of حلاوةsweetness الانفاقِgiving
إلا لفرط حلاوة الانفاقِ
The place his wealth held within his soul was never emptied,
No place that had your wealth remained devoid
except through the surpassing sweetness of giving.
Of you, except for your excessive openhandedness.
ياO آلhouse of نبهانٍNabhan لقدindeed تاهتswelled with pride بكمthrough you
يا آل نبهانٍ لقد تاهت بكم
سَمَدٌSamad وفاقتand surpassed سائرall other الآفاقِhorizons
سَمَدٌ وفاقت سائر الآفاقِ
O house of Nabhan, through you she has swelled with pride—
O Banū Nabhān, you were lost through you
Samad—and surpassed all other horizons.
Extended glories surpassing all horizons.
وكأنّماand as though قدindeed قدرتwere ordained فيin مالكمyour wealth
وكأنّما قد قدرت في مالكم
للعالمينfor all humankind مكاسبُmeans of earning الأَرزاقِsustenance
للعالمين مكاسبُ الأَرزاقِ
And it is as though within your wealth were ordained
As if your wealth had been predestined
for all humankind the means of livelihood.
For all peoples, the profits of sustenance.
وكفاكمand have sufficed for you نسباًas lineage إلىtoward دركattaining العلىlofty rank
وكفاكم نسباً إلى درك العلى
مِننٌbenefactions لكمof yours شُهرتmade manifest علىupon الأَعناقnecks
مِننٌ لكم شُهرت على الأَعناق
And sufficient as your lineage for attaining lofty rank
Your lineage sufficed you for attaining the highest sphere-
are your benefactions, made manifest upon people's necks.
Favors upon you made renowned throughout the lands-
مننbenefactions هيthey الأَغلالshackles إنif كُفرتdenied وإنand if
منن هي الأَغلال إن كُفرت وإن
شكرتacknowledged with thanks ففيthen upon الأَعناقnecks والأَطواقand necklaces
شكرت ففي الأَعناق والأَطواق
Benefactions that are shackles if denied; and if
Favors which, if ungratefully rejected, are shackles
acknowledged with thanks, they rest upon necks and necklaces.
But, if received thankfully, adornments of neck and wrist.
ولأَنتَand indeed you إبراهيمIbrahim فيon درجsteps العلىlofty rank
ولأَنتَ إبراهيم في درج العلى
أَبداًforever علىupon شرفheight المجرّةthe Milky Way راقيascending
أَبداً على شرف المجرّة راقي
And you indeed, Ibrahim, on the steps of lofty rank,
You, Ibrāhīm, forever ascend to sublime heights
are forever ascending the heights of the Milky Way.
In prestige, elevated and sublime.
لازلتَmay you ever remain محروساًguarded وعزكand your might قاهرُoverpowering
لازلتَ محروساً وعزك قاهرُ
وذَراكand your haven معمُورٌwell peopled وعُمركand your life باقيenduring
وذَراك معمُورٌ وعُمرك باقي
May you ever remain guarded, and your might triumphant,
You remain protected, your might triumphant,
and your haven well peopled, and your life enduring.
Your dwellings prosperous, your life everlasting.
