أْلمِمْcall بيعرَبَon Ya‘rab تُبصِرْyou will behold سيَّدlord العرَبِthe Arabs
أْلمِمْ بيعرَبَ تُبصِرْ سيَّد العرَبِ
ومعدَنand the wellspring الجودgenerosity فيin بُحبوحةthe spacious midst الحَسَبِancestral honor
ومعدَن الجود في بُحبوحة الحَسَبِ
Visit Ya‘rab, and you will behold the lord of the Arabs,
The leader of the Arabs you see
And the wellspring of generosity amid the abundance of ancestral honor,
The essence of generosity in the glory of ancestry
والمهتدِيand the guided one بدليلٍby a guide منfrom خَلآئقهhis character traits
والمهتدِي بدليلٍ من خَلآئقه
طُرقthe paths الشَجَاعةcourage والمعروفand benevolence والأدبِand refinement
طُرق الشَجَاعة والمعروف والأدبِ
And one who, with his character as a guide, finds
And the one guided by evidence among his creations
The paths of courage, benevolence, and refinement.
The paths of courage, kindness and refinement
إذاwhen قَصدناwe set out لمعروفِfor a favor أَضآءَshone لَناfor us
إذا قَصدنا لمعروفِ أَضآءَ لَنا
بَرقُthe lightning النَّدىgenerosity فاهْتدَيناso we found our way موضعَthe place الطلبِof seeking
بَرقُ النَّدى فاهْتدَينا موضعَ الطلبِ
When we set out seeking a favor, there shone for us
When we seek kindness, there shines for us
The lightning of generosity, so we found our way to the place we sought,
The lightning of dew, so we are guided to where it is sought
حيثُwhere السَّماحةliberality والعرُفand kindness المؤملُhoped for مَنْwhoever
حيثُ السَّماحة والعرُف المؤملُ مَنْ
وافاهُcame to him مُلتمساًseeking للبرَّfor beneficence لمdid not يَخِبِbe disappointed
وافاهُ مُلتمساً للبرَّ لم يَخِبِ
Where liberality and hoped-for kindness dwell; whoever
Where there is generosity and hopeful custom for whoever
Came to him seeking beneficence was not disappointed.
Seeks righteousness, he will not lose hope
فَضلٌexcellence علىabove عَرَبِthe Arabs الآفاقِof all lands فاقَhe excelled بهthrough it
فَضلٌ على عَرَبِ الآفاقِ فاقَ به
فزادكَso may he increase you اللهGod فضلاًin excellence ياO أباfather of العَرَبِthe Arabs
فزادكَ الله فضلاً يا أبا العَرَبِ
An excellence by which he surpassed the Arabs of every land—
Virtue over the Arabs of horizons, excelling through it
So may God increase your excellence, O father of the Arabs.
So may God increase your virtue, O father of the Arabs
