يا عَالِياً كُلَّ عالِ

يا عَالِياً كُلَّ عالِ

مستانساً بِعَلاَةِ

مستانساً بِعَلاَةِ

O you who rise above every lofty one,

O exalted one, exalted above all

finding solace in a boulder,

Rejoicing in sublime stature

لاَ غَرو إِن حُزتَ فَهماً

لاَ غَرو إِن حُزتَ فَهماً

عَن جُملَةِ الحَلَقَاتِ

عَن جُملَةِ الحَلَقَاتِ

No wonder if you have gained understanding

No wonder if you surpass in understanding

from all the circles.

The sum of all gatherings

فَقَد وَرِثتَ مَعالِى

فَقَد وَرِثتَ مَعالِى

مختارِنَا في الأَنَاةِ

مختارِنَا في الأَنَاةِ

For you have inherited the lofty virtues

For you have inherited the virtues

of our Mukhtar in unhurried composure,

Of our chosen one in his grace

وفي نَسَيجِ القَوَافي

وفي نَسَيجِ القَوَافي

وفي فُنُونِ اللُّغَاتِ

وفي فُنُونِ اللُّغَاتِ

and in the weaving of rhymes,

Both in the weaving of rhymes

and in the arts of languages.

And in the disciplines of languages

لاَ حلقَةَ اليومَ عِندِى

لاَ حلقَةَ اليومَ عِندِى

مُوشِيَهَ الجَنبَاتِ

مُوشِيَهَ الجَنبَاتِ

I have no circle today

No gathering today in my view

with embroidered sides;

Adorned with vigor

وَلم تَكُن حَلقَةً في

وَلم تَكُن حَلقَةً في

كَحلقَةٍ في فَلاَةِ

كَحلقَةٍ في فَلاَةِ

and it was not a circle in—

Was ever a gathering like

like a ring in a desert.

A gathering in wilderness
