لِيَعلمَlet him know مَنwhoever تَأَمَّلَهُcontemplates it بِأنَّاthat we are
لِيَعلمَ مَن تَأَمَّلَهُ بِأنَّا
عَبِيدُslaves of أقَارِبِthe relatives of الشَّيخِthe shaykh الجَلَيلِthe venerable
عَبِيدُ أقَارِبِ الشَّيخِ الجَلَيلِ
Let whoever contemplates it know that we are
So that he who contemplates it may know
Slaves of the venerable shaykh's relatives,
That we are servants of the revered elder's kinsfolk
وأَعبُدُand slaves of مَنwhoever لَهُhe has سَبَبُa tie إِلَيهِto him
وأَعبُدُ مَن لَهُ سَبَبُ إِلَيهِ
ولَوeven if عَبداًa slave تَوَغَّلَsank deeply فيin الخَمُولِobscurity
ولَو عَبداً تَوَغَّلَ في الخَمُولِ
And slaves of whoever has a tie to him,
And I worship him who is connected to him
Even if he is a slave sunk deep in obscurity.
Even if he were a servant mired in idleness
فَهوfor he is الشَّيخُthe shaykh أحمَدُAhmad مَنthe one who تَحَلَّتwere adorned
فَهو الشَّيخُ أحمَدُ مَن تَحَلَّت
بِهِمَّتِهِthrough his lofty resolve مَقَامَاتthe stations of الفُحُولِthe masters
بِهِمَّتِهِ مَقَامَات الفُحُولِ
For he is Shaykh Ahmad, through whose
He is the sheikh Ahmad, who by his resolve
Lofty resolve the stations of the masters were adorned.
Attained the stations of great men
واخَضَلَتand grew moist الشَّهادةُthe testimony of faith بَعدَafter يُبسٍdryness
واخَضَلَت الشَّهادةُ بَعدَ يُبسٍ
وأُحيِىَand was revived قَفوُfollowing آثَارِthe footsteps of الرَّسُولِthe Messenger
وأُحيِىَ قَفوُ آثَارِ الرَّسُولِ
And the testimony of faith grew moist after dryness,
And testimony languished after barrenness
And following the Messenger's footsteps was revived.
And the footsteps of the Messenger were revived
حَبَاهُmay He grant him اللهُGod أُمنيَةًa wish وأولَىand may He bestow
حَبَاهُ اللهُ أُمنيَةً وأولَى
لِمَنon whoever يَأويseeks refuge إلَيهِto him سُؤلِa request
لِمَن يَأوي إلَيهِ سُؤلِ
May God grant him his wish, and bestow
Allah granted him a wish and priority
On whoever seeks refuge with him what they ask.
For whoever comes to him seeking
وعَمَّرَهُand may He prolong his life مُطَاعاًobeyed مُستَقِيماًsteadfast
وعَمَّرَهُ مُطَاعاً مُستَقِيماً
عَلَىupon غرَّاءَradiant وَاضِحةِclear السَّبِيلِthe way
عَلَى غرَّاءَ وَاضِحةِ السَّبِيلِ
And prolong his life, obeyed and steadfast,
And gave him a long life, upright and obeyed
Upon a radiant way, clear in its course.
On a clear, glistening path
وبَارَكَand may He bless فيin بَنِيهِhis sons وفيand in بَنِيهِمtheir sons
وبَارَكَ في بَنِيهِ وفي بَنِيهِم
أهِلِّةِthe crescent moons of دَهرِنَاour age الغُرُرِbright-browed الحُجُولِwhite-footed
أهِلِّةِ دَهرِنَا الغُرُرِ الحُجُولِ
And bless his sons and their sons,
And blessed his sons and his sons' sons
The crescent moons of our age, bright-browed and white-footed.
The cherished gallant lions of our time
