سَيَبدُوit will become clear أنَّthat قَاضِينَاour judge الأمِينَاal-Amin (the trustworthy)
أمِينٌtrustworthy لَنwill not يَمِيلَswerve ولَنand will not يَمِينَاlie
It will become clear that our judge, al-Amin,
Our righteous judge will surely appear
Is trustworthy: he will neither swerve nor lie.
To be upright, he will not sway or lean
فَقَاضِينَاfor our judge بِمَاabout what فيin الكُتبِthe books أدرَىmore knowledgeable
وكَانَand he was بِحَلِّat resolving مُشكِلِهَاtheir difficult passages قَمِينَاwell qualified
For our judge is better versed in what the books contain,
For our judge knows best what's in the books
And was well qualified to unravel their difficulties.
Solving their problems he's ever keen
فَقَدfor indeed رَاضَmastered الدَّفَاتِرَthe volumes فيin صِبَاهُhis youth
وأبدَىand revealed الغَثَّthe lean (poor material) مِنهَاof them والسَّمِينَاand the fat (valuable material)
For he mastered the volumes in his youth,
In his youth, he reconciled the records
And brought to light their lean and their fat.
Separating the bad from the clean
أمِينٌAmin (the trustworthy) مَاnot يُمَاثِلُهُmatches him سِوَاهُanyone other than him
فَأَنَّىso how تُشبِهُresembles اليُسرَىthe left hand اليَمِينَاthe right hand
Amin—no one else can match him;
An honest man with no equal
For how could the left hand resemble the right?
How can you liken left to right, I mean?
