Eid prayer is not like ordinary prayer

in every aspect of its performance.

So there is neither an iqamah nor an announcement

in this prayer, for those who follow the leading scholars.

You recite in it, without reproach,

aloud in the forenoon, the Opening of the Book,

and 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, who...',

and 'The Sun,' or a chapter similar in character.

And before reciting, say 'God is greatest' seven times

in the first rak‘ah, and omit raising your hands

for all but the opening takbir

among them; you will attain treasured reward and your aim.

And be sure to say 'God is greatest' in the one that follows

five times; not counted among them

is the opening takbir; and the prostration

throughout it is our customary prostration.

Likewise the closing salutation and the tashahhud; and in

its sermon, silent listening is not obligatory.
