Whenever Umm al-Nabi resolves to depart,
I resolve on a departure I had never intended before.
وإِنand if أقَامَتshe stays هُنَاhere دَهراًan age أقَمتُI stay هناhere
دَهراًan age وإِنand if سَئِمتshe grows weary هُنَاhere سَئِمتُI grow weary هُنَاhere
And if she stays here an age, I stay here
An age; and if she tires of being here, I tire of being here.

Umm al-Nabi is all I desire; and if she consented,
I would grant my soul, through her, its desire and wishes.
