ولم تدرِ حيثُ الخَطَا والصَّوابُ

When you are torn between two courses,

and do not know where error and right lie,

فخَالِفْ هَوَاكَ فإنَّ الهوَى

فخَالِفْ هَوَاكَ فإنَّ الهوَى

يقودُ النفوسَ إلى ما يعاب

يقودُ النفوسَ إلى ما يعاب

then oppose your desire, for desire

leads souls to what is blameworthy.
